2017 SHS Band Disney Trip

We are going to Orlando!

UPDATE:
  • Our Disney Trip will be: March 13-17, 2017 (Mon-Fri of Spring Break)
  • The total for the trip is: $990.00
  • Bus: 1 Charter Bus
  • Food: Breakfast provided at hotel.  Students get a $15 food card at Disney for Days 1 & 2 and a $25 food card at Disney for Day 3.  All other meals must be purchased by the student (fast food along the bus ride, etc.).

--Final Disney Meeting: Wednesday March 8th at 6:30pm!
--Disney Night Rehearsal: Wednesday March 8th at 7:00pm...wear gym shoes to march in please!
​--Disney Jazz Rehearsals: Tuesday at 6pm and Wednesday at 5pm...we need your help trumpets!

Our Tour Includes: One 56-passenger deluxe motorcoach equipped with restroom, DVD player, AC outlets & Wi-Fi, Tri-State Travel tour receptive in Orlando, 2 nights’ accommodations at Park Inn by Radisson with security each night, 2 Full American Breakfasts, 3-Day Disney Performing Arts Starter Ticket, “You’re Instrumental” workshop for all band members, Performance opportunity for Marching Band, Jazz Band and Concert Band, Two - $15.00 Disney Dining Cards, and One - $25 Disney Dining Card.
 
We can offer Tavel Insurance for students, rate for your trip would be $75 per person, this is for trip cancellation or trip interruption for serious medical reasons. Due with final payment.

​REQUIRED TRIP ATTIRE:
Marching Band Attire:
-Extra t-shirt
-Soft athletic shorts
-BLACK socks
-Marching shoes
-Hair ties
-Full Uniform :)
(it is recommended that the clothing you wear under the uniform is different than what you wear all day...it will get wet)
Symphonic Band Attire: 
     Boys: Black dress pants (not provided) and WHITE long sleeve button-down collared dress shirts.  Black belt and black dress shoes...and of course LONG BLACK SOCKS!  Black Bow-ties and Coats will be provided! 
     Girls: Black dress pants or black long skirt (not provided) and BLACK dress shirt or blouse.  Black belt and black dress shoes...and of course LONG BLACK SOCKS (if worn)!  Basically, concert black formal dress clothing.
---No sandals/flip-flops.
---No black jeans
---No leggings or yoga pants
---Please remember this is a performance and not a fashion show.  Please dress appropriately.
---Boys, please remember WHITE long sleeve dress shirts!
Jazz Ensemble Attire:  
     Boys: Black dress pants (not provided) and WHITE long sleeve button-down collared dress shirts.  Black belt and black dress shoes...and of course LONG BLACK SOCKS!  Purple Bow-ties and Coats will be provided! 
     Girls: All black dress clothes.  Either black dress pants or a LONG black skirt/dress down to the ankles.  Black blouse or other black dress shirt.  Black shoes and BLACK socks (if worn).

-Clothing for bus ride(s) on your own (comfortable)
-Clothing for under your marching uniform
-Clothing to sleep in/around the hotel
-Clothing bottoms (shorts/pants) for Disney on your own
-Black dress shoes for Symphonic/Jazz Band if you are not using your marching shoes
-Toiletries
-Phone charger
-Please do not pack large video games or other large items...you do not need them on this trip!

SHERRARD HIGH SCHOOL BAND
ORLANDO TOUR
MARCH 13 – 17, 2017


DAY 1 – MONDAY, MARCH 13:
  • 7:00 AM Student Call-Time at SHS.  All bags, purses, instruments, etc. will be checked.  All medication will be turned in.
  • Your deluxe 56-passenger motorcoach equipped with Restroom, DVD player, Wi-Fi & AC outlets arrives at Sherrard High School at 8:00 AM to begin loading instruments, uniforms, luggage and passengers. 
  • At 9:00 AM group departs for straight-thru trip to Orlando, Florida.  Meal stops and driver switches will be made en route. 

DAY 2 – TUESDAY, MARCH 14:
  • Upon arrival (approx. 9:00 AM) in Orlando group will be taken directly to Animal Kingdom where they will enjoy the park until...
  • 1:30 PM at which time they board the bus, change into performance attire and head to Disney Springs where they will be performing.
  • The Concert Band will perform at Waterfront Stage at 3:30 PM (must report at 2:30 PM)
  • The Jazz Band will perform at Waterview Park Stage at 4:45 PM. (must report at 4:15 PM)
  • Each person will be given a $15.00 Disney Dining Card to use at any of the food vendors located within the park for lunch.
  • Dinner will be at a fast food restaurant.
  • At 7:00 PM group departs for hotel for check-in.  Your home for the next two nights will be The Park Inn by Radisson. After check-in you are free to enjoy the large heated outdoor pool or relax around the hotel. **Hotel security provided from 11:00 PM – 5:00 AM.    Pool open until 11:00 PM each day.
*Both performance groups and chaperones will stay at Melody Gardens for both performances.  Please note that this is just a PERFORMANCE opportunity at Epcot and not admission to Epcot park. Group cannot take advantage of any of Epcot’s rides, attractions, shows, etc.
 
DAY 3 – WEDNESDAY, MARCH 15:  
  • Magic Kingdom! This morning after enjoying a Full American Breakfast the entire group will load up their instruments and uniforms and head to Magic Kingdom for a day of fun and performance opportunity. 
  • At 1:00 PM the Marching Band will report inside the park to prepare for the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade at 2:30 PM.
  • The remainder of the day will be spent at Magic Kingdom. Delight in classic attractions, enchanting fireworks, and beloved Disney Characters across 6 whimsical lands. See fantasy become a reality as you explore Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, and Main Street, U.S.A. areas. Another $15.00 Disney Dining Card will be included. 
  • Group returns to hotel when park closes (9:00 PM). Be sure pack up and prepare for tomorrow’s early departure!  **Hotel security provided from 11:00 PM – 5:00 AM. 
 
DAY 4 – THURSDAY, MARCH 16:
  • Workshop Day!  Group will depart hotel at 6:15 AM with instruments to take part in the “You’re Instrumental” workshop at 7:00-9:30 AM in Studio A located in a backstage area of Epcot (must report by 6:30 AM).  Students learn how to get the most out of your rehearsals and learn how to execute a pitch-perfect performance as they hone their sight-reading skills under the guidance of an experienced Disney Teaching Artist. During this 2 1/2-hour workshop your group will examine the skills, attitudes and priorities essential to musical excellence and culminate with a very special finale: a recording of your ensemble performing Disney music accompanied by footage from a classic Disney animated film! 
  • After the clinic, return to hotel to check-out then will head to... 
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Movie magic comes to life at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, awash in the glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Step into the action with attractions based on blockbuster movies and top TV shows, and delight in exciting entertainment that puts you center stage. With the vibrancy of a bustling movie set, this park features 8 sections: Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Sunset Boulevard, Streets of America, Commissary Lane, Pixar Place, Mickey Avenue and Animation Courtyard areas. Be sure to use your $25.00 Disney Dining Card before we depart for home at 8:00 PM. 
  • 8:00 PM - The straight-thru trip back home will include break & meal stops as well as driver switches.
 
DAY 5 – FRIDAY, MARCH 17: 
  • Group arrives back in Sherrard around 8:00 PM.
